Our Values
HUMAN RIGHTS
Our work is based on the conviction that everyone has the right to:
clean, easily accessible water, food and shelter
good hygiene and sanitation
education
curative and preventative medicine
participation in decision-making

JUSTICE
We are committed to social justice, with a special focus on the poorest and most marginalised people. The commitment is shared by many Christian and Gandhian workers and by many people of all faiths or none. It involves:
putting those in greatest need first
recognising the importance of local decision-making
supporting the principles of solidarity and mutual responsibility
tackling unjust systems that rob people of their dignity and potential

ECOLOGY
We are committed to fully ecological principles and practice, believing that abuse of the environment has serious adverse effects on water availability and on poor communities.

EQUALITY
We are committed to supporting people regardless of religion, race or caste; and we believe in equal opportunities for our trustees, staff, volunteers and the groups with which we work, in India and in the UK.

NON-VIOLENCE
We are committed to non-violence and respect for culture and religious tradition, recognising that spirituality permeates the whole of people’s lives.
